Technology can be used to increase collaboration in the workplace

Office technology continues to evolve, with more devices being introduced into the workplace. This has improved efficiency and encouraged collaboration, but it has also opened up enterprises to security risks, making it more important than ever for businesses to have a professional liability insurance policy that provides some coverage in the event of data loss.

Entrepreneur magazine recently identified some of the tools businesses are using to increase collaboration.

The magazine said an interactive environment, including technologies such as cloud computing and screen sharing, will allow business associates to collaborate from a number of different locations.

Touchscreens are another tool businesses are using to boost teamwork efforts, said the magazine. By using touchscreens, businesses can enable side-by-side computer work, allowing co-workers to see and work off of the progress made by others.

Other types of technology businesses can use for collaboration include interactive whiteboards and "smart" tables, which have built-in computer interfaces, according to the magazine.

According to Computerworld, the wide range of technologies available for businesses is causing IT executives to shift their security approaches. Cloud computing, mobile technologies and IT consumerization are just a few of the other components changing the thoughts of IT pros.
