Many IT security professionals are unable to identify security threats

Published:

According to a recent survey conducted by LogRhythm, more than 75 percent of IT security professionals believe they will be able to identify behavior tied to data breaches and cybercrime before it happens.

With this information in mind, businesses would be smart to purchase professional liability insurance to make sure their business is covered financially after suffering from a data breach or phishing incident.

"Cyber threats are increasing in volume and sophistication and our Cyber Threat Readiness Survey data confirms that most organizations recognize they lack the ability to detect and respond to these threats," said Chris Petersen, chief technology officer and co-founder of LogRhythm.

The survey also found only 21 percent of respondents are confident in their ability to detect rogue processes that can infect a businesses infrastructure.

According to Business Solutions magazine, managers need to be sure that all of their processes, including email, instant messaging, voice over IP, websites and file servers are protected from potential data breaches.

A few of the things hackers will go after first are the public recognition and the capital possessed by a business, said the magazine.
