According to a recent survey conducted by InformationWeek Reports, 64 percent of IT professionals across the United States are using between two and five cloud service providers.
The "2012 State of Cloud Computing" report also found 71 percent of respondents review a vendor's service level agreements before they negotiate terms, while 51 percent rank security as their main concern during deployment.
With security of sensitive data becoming ever more important for many businesses across the United States, businesses would be smart to invest in professional liability insurance that includes a cyberliability policy.
"It's pretty clear that the norm for most companies will be a hybrid cloud, with a mix of external providers and sensitive or critical applications kept in-house," said Lorna Garey, content director of InformationWeek Reports. "But service providers are making strides in terms of security and performance."
According to PCWorld, many cloud experts believe that a hybrid cloud is the best way to start a cloud deployment, and combining the power of the public and private cloud gives businesses the ability to deploy a number of applications at once.
