Frivolous lawsuits affecting real estate, job sector

Published:

A recent article from Empowered News discussed how the increased number of frivolous lawsuits has affected the real estate and job sectors in many regions.

The report relays that excess lawsuits have had negative impacts on the financial responsibilities of communities and states. To rally against this disturbing trend, an advocacy group in Fresno, California Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse, has spoken out against these frivolous filings.

The higher number of lawsuits, according to the group, are driving up home prices while holding back the job market in California. In fact, CALA representatives claim that lawyers in California have filed too many lawsuits that report violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the California Environmental Equality Act from small businesses. As a result, many small businesses have closed because of the high fees associated with lawsuits.

CALA has promoted the phrase "bad lawsuits cost good jobs," to further its point.

While the group hopes to reduce these frivolous lawsuits and preserve jobs, small businesses should begin to invest in liability insurance in order to prepare for any potential lawsuits that could threaten them.
