ECPA adding more insurance options for members

Published:

Realizing the important benefits provided by errors and omissions insurance and a number of other business insurance coverages, the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association added many new options to its insurance program available to members in 2012, reported Insurance Journal.

The new insurance program will include property and liability, auto, workers’ compensation, umbrella, directors and officers and international coverage, and cyberliability coverage will also be available, according to the website.

The source said that the ECPA believes the new insurance program will reduce overall insurance costs for members by 20 percent to 30 percent, while also tying into the ECPA’s legal hotline services, which will help publishers avoid claims for libel, invasion of privacy and copyright and trademark infringement.

While the ECPA is offering more insurance for its members and cutting costs, employees can also benefit from work insurance, which often covers the costs of preventive health initiatives like smoking cessation programs. According to a recent report by a coalition of public health organizations, states this year will spend less than 2 percent of their tobacco tax and tobacco-settlement billions on programs to help people quit smoking or prevent them from starting, reported the American Health Network.
