Workplace injuries can be prevented with better regulations and safety standards

Published:

Injuries suffered at work are a reality, and many times unavoidable. In fact, workplace fatalities, injuries, and illnesses costs the U.S. economy more than $155 billion each year. Some of these problems can be avoided with better safety standards and procedures, and to provide some advice to improve these things, Carol Jamrosz, vice president of risk management at RGL Holdings, discussed some potential changes businesses can make with the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Businesses need to make sure they train their employee over and over on safe workplace practices. Drilling employees on how to avoid safety problems will undoubtedly reduce workplace injuries.

Setting standards for everyone will give all employees the same rules. If managers and business owners don't follow the same safety practices, employees will be less likely to follow along with the standards set for them.

Understanding that employees will get injured in the workplace is something all business owners have to come to grips to. With this in mind, they also need to have workers compensation insurance policies to help out employees financially if they are injured and have to miss work for an extended time period.
