Use the late summer to reestablish teamwork in the workplace

Many businesses throughout the United States are more relaxed during the summer, when many top executives and business leaders work on lighter schedules and take time off time to go on a vacation. But much like students, businesses have to get back up to full speed come August.

According to Evelyn Williams, the associate vice president for leadership development at Wake Forest University, late summer is the perfect time for business owners to initiate team building efforts in the workplace that can get firms back to a place where they can be more efficient and productive.

“Great leaders know they almost never have the answer by themselves,” Williams said. “They put together the right team to answer the tough questions, and have confidence that their team will find the right answer.”

A few suggestions Williams has for business owners to build an efficient team is to create goals to be completed in the workplace, understand the best ideas to accomplish those goals and what business owners can do to manage their employees in pursuit of these goals.

A strong team can give business owners confidence that they will go above and beyond the call of duty. Unfortunately, some staff members may not work out and will need to be replaced. With the right business insurance policies, firm owners can make adjustments to their staff without fear of a lawsuit.
