Small businesses continue to worry about the economy

Published:

Ever since the most recent economic recession set in, many small businesses have been hesitant with their spending and cautious in their pursuit of opportunities that could lead to potential growth. Recent research from online network MerchantCircle.com found 60 percent of entrepreneurs believe the economy is one of the top issues in the country.

With the upcoming election on the horizon, small business owners will be most likely to select the candidate who promises the most advantages to them. Keeping this in mind, nearly 40 percent of survey respondents said they believe Republican candidates have the best interests of entrepreneurs in mind.

While Republicans have defined themselves as the leading supporters of small businesses, 15 percent of respondents said they have yet to decide on who they will vote for in the upcoming election and that their vote is "up for grabs."

Small businesses are primary drivers of the U.S. economy, and historically, when small businesses are strong, the economy has followed suit. However, the recent recession has caused small businesses to be more cautious, making it even more important for them to invest in the necessary small business insurance policies to protect against any unforeseen expenses.
