Small business owner sentiment falls again in June

Published:

The National Federation of Independent Business' Index fell even lower in June from May, according to The Associated Press.

The AP said the falling index is a result of the unstable economy and uncertain political climate. Because business owners are fearing that the economy could affect their business, they are hesitant to expand and make investments that may stretch their business thin.

"This month's survey was a real economic downer," William Dunkelberg, chief economist at the NFIB, told the AP. "The economy has definitely slowed; job growth will be far short of that needed to reduce the unemployment rate."

The index now stands at 91.4, which is 3 points lower then it ended at in May. Another reason why small business owners' sentiment continues to fall is because they are unsure which presidential candidate will be in office in the upcoming four years.

Uncertainty will remain a part of the small business environment until owners know who will be in office. In order to protect themselves from potential problems, owners should invest in business insurance policies.
