Partnership allows future business owners to learn about potential risks

Looking to provide future business owners and executives with an extensive background in finance, economics and policy, J.P. Morgan and the University of Colorado-Denver recently announced the opening of the J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities.

"No academic program matches what the J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities will provide," said Don Elliman, chancellor of the CU-Denver. "J.P. Morgan will partner with the CU-Denver Business School to create that vital intersection for commodities education and the industry."

The center will give students the opportunity to work with business issues such as commodity markets, sustainable development, regulations, investing and trading, and risk management.

Learning about things such as business risks will give future business executives an idea of why they need to be covered by a business insurance policy.

A few of the risks the business owners face are provided in a list by Business 2 Community, which include personal liability, insufficient funds, poor planning, disability or illness. While some of these risks are obvious, other risks are less readily apparent, and this can especially be the case when it comes to complicated financial matters. While not every business owner can learn about risk management through an in-depth program like the one at CU-Denver, any owner can consult with insurance professionals about which policies are necessary and recommended.
