Criteria for selecting a transportation provider during workers compensation claims

Published:

Recent research from STOPS Enterprises identified the top criteria claims professionals use when selecting a transportation provider for use during a workers compensation case.

A few of the criteria include getting injured employees to work and their appointments on time, not having to spend time on the phone with call center agents, offering competitive rates and providing an inviting environment for workers when being transported.

"In workers compensation, due to the severity of an injury or physical limitations resulting from injuries, many claimants are unable to drive themselves to medical, legal or other appointments," said Don Duford, CEO of One Call Medical. "As a result, STOPS is seeing a growing demand for transportation services."

All states deal with workers compensation separately, and in Washington, those who leave the state while receiving benefits still are able to receive support until fully healed, reported Tri-Cities, Washington, CBS affiliate KEPR.

Hector Castro, Washington's Labor and Industries agency spokesman, told the source employers must ensure these eligible claimants have the medical care they need even after leaving the state.
