Business optimism continuing to grow among owners

Published:

A recent survey conducted by Sage found business owners are continuing to become more optimistic, with the companies' small business index growing from 55.31 in the summer of 2011 to 61.07, when business owners were asked to gauge their prospects for the upcoming months.

Despite the positive outlook, businesses still need to make sure they are protected with business insurance. Without the proper protections in place, a workplace accident or a lawsuit could seriously dampen a business owner's optimism. However, these recent findings are encouraging for business owners across the country.

"Small businesses continue to be the driver of the U.S. economy and it is inspiring that business owners are confident in their prospects," said Connie Certusi, executive vice president of Sage Small Business Accounting. "With that said, many business owners have legitimate concerns about the variables that can impact their bottom line, namely the rising cost of energy, raw goods and inflation."

A recent Gallup index also found Americans are feeling better about the economy, with economic confidence reaching its highest level since January 2008. For the past seven months, the index has been steadily rising.
