South Durham Development hosts meeting through pending lawsuit

In response to changes made to the construction of a construction project in Durham, North Carolina, South Durham Development will host an informational meeting for local citizens, The News & Observer reports.

Durham laws mandate that any planned rezoning or changes to properties are openly revealed to the neighborhood.

The development of 751 South is scheduled to include 300,000 square feet of office and retail space and 55 acres of green area. The agency expects to produce $8 million in new taxes for the City of Durham and Durham County, South Durham Development revealed on its website

A complaint filed against Southern Durham Development in August 2010 puts the redevelopment of 751 South in question and is pending a court ruling, yet Dan Jewell, an architect for the organization, told the news source the informational meeting will be held even if the court rules against them before Thursday.

Small business insurance may cover the legal costs involved throughout the litigation and Jewell informed two primary issues that will be discussed during the meeting will be an amendment of a school-site donation and the restructuring of a road blueprint.
